With thousands of race fans braving the wind and rain, Convoy in the Park still stands out as one of the most exciting and thrilling events of the season thanks to its blend of truck racing, entertainment and plenty of outstanding show trucks.

MV Commercial was thrilled to see our very own #86 Tom O’Rourke race for the first time on UK soil following a brilliant debut in Nürburgring in Germany a few weeks ago. Despite a great qualifying session placing 10th, the weekend got off to a rocky start with the white MAN being nudged off the track on the 6th lap and the soft soil resulted in a pirouette and an unfortunate DNF. The following races of weekend saw solid performances with a 9th and 10th in the remainders Division 1 race, with the wet conditions of the third race pushing Tom down to 12th.

Elsewhere in Division 1 Smith continues his dominance of Division 1 with three returns to the top podium followed by Jenkins with two 2nds over the course of the weekend. Despite the dominance of these two drivers, the weekend also saw Shane Brereton scoop two 3rd places and a 2nd, with Simon Reid and Jamie Anderson also claiming a top spot each in thrilling races.

In Division 2 Luke Garrett took an early lead in the qualifiers with Steven Powell and Paul Rivett close behind. This momentum continued with Garret taking top spot for the opening race with Powell following and Adam Bint taking third. Rivett was struck with a bit of bad luck after he came off in the 7th lap in the opening race, but quickly turned it around for the second race with a victory and fastest time. Powell returned to the second step and Erik Forsstrom reaching third on his sole visit to the podium for the weekend. Despite taking fastest lap, Powell only managed second behind Rivett in the third Division 2 race of the weekend with John Bowler taking his first podium of the weekend with a third. Unfortunately, Rivett’s bad luck struck again for the final race of Division 2 with a DNF after 4 laps leaving Garrett to return to the top spot, followed by Powell and Bowler returning to the third step with a well-earned fastest lap.

Back on MV Commercial’s stand in the centre arena we welcomed hundreds of new and old friends over the weekend to enjoy the view from the top as well as our legendary chef, Malky. Despite the slightly damp conditions the party continued throughout the day and we are to say that we were one of the most popular stands in the arena! A huge thankyou to everybody that came through and helped to make this such a memorable event for us.

The next round of the MV Commercial BTRA Championship will be at Snetteron on the 7th and 8th of September. We look forward to seeing you there!
